Dr. Bessie B. Moore, Founder - 1962 |
Economics Arkansas
funds its programs in a variety of ways including,
a Department of Education grant, Corporate
Trivia Challenge events, the Northwest Arkansas
Campaign, The Arkansas Bankers Association
Campaign, EconomicsAmerica
dues, sponsorship opportunities of Economics Arkansas events
and activities, NCEE and other grant funding,
community fundraising luncheons, and individual
giving.
Economics Arkansas follows sound decision making practices
and good stewardship of the resources it has been
entrusted. Economics Arkansas has an official investment policy
and annual budget process overseen by the Budget
and Finance Committee. An independent auditor conducts an annual audit.
Department of Education
The Arkansas Department of Education supports
Economics Arkansas with state funding through the legislative
appropriation process. These funds support
economic education training, workshops, and
curriculum offered to Arkansas K-12 educators.
The Corporate Trivia Challenge
Corporate Trivia Challenge is Economics Arkansas's signature
fundraising event. Each year, local community leaders
and businesses around Arkansas compete in a fun-filled
evening to raise money for Economics Arkansas. Teams compete
to match one another's wit and trivia knowledge.
The format combines the elements of the game show "Jeopardy," the
board game "Trivial Pursuit," and the
high school competition "Quiz Bowl." This
event is wonderful way to build company morale
and support a good cause at the same time!
Northwest Arkansas Campaign
Economics Arkansas is very fortunate to have board member Jim
Walton, serving as Chair of the Northwest Arkansas
Campaign. A team of community leaders asks colleagues,
peers, friends, and associates to contribute financial
resources to Economics Arkansas. The Northwest Arkansas Campaign
is a very successful "friends asking friends" approach
to fundraising. The Arkansas Bankers Association Campaign
The Arkansas Bankers Association has endorsed
an annual campaign for Economics Arkansas for more than
thirty years. The current Chair of the ABA
leads the fundraising campaign each year. The
ABA helped establish Economics Arkansas in 1962 and has
raised more than $1.5 million for economic
education in Arkansas.
EconomicsAmerica Dues
Economics Arkansas partners with K-12 schools across
the state and through this partnership, Economics Arkansas suggests annual dues to support
the training and curriculum given to the teachers
in their district.
Sponsorships & Ticket
Sales
The Stock Market Game, The Bessie B. Moore
Arkansas Awards Luncheon, Economics Challenge,
and Corporate Trivia Challenge, are all activities
and events that offer opportunities for corporate
or individual sponsorships. Sponsorships and
ticket sales help offset expenses for these
events.
NCEE and other
Grant funding
Many companies and foundations provide grants to Economics Arkansas, which are used to promote economic education
in general, or sometimes to a particular program.
While grant revenue is not within Economics Arkansas’s
control, opportunities to increase revenue through
this source are continually sought. Economics Arkansas continues
to form mutually beneficial partnerships with foundations
and companies in Arkansas, and across the nation.
Community Fundraising Luncheons
Economics Arkansas Board of Directors, the Centers for
Economic Education, and other community leaders
supportive to our mission, are asked to host
local “friendraising” and fundraising
luncheons in order to increase our grassroots
support. A member of the community with influence
is key to this effort. A presentation made
by Economics Arkansas staff and local educators, offers a
glimpse of how economic education is making
an impact in the classroom and beyond. The
local community leader follows with a heartfelt
appeal for contributions to the cause.
Individual Giving/Endowment
Economics Arkansas seeks individual gifts to our programs annually, or, if you want to leave a legacy of support
for Economics Arkansas’s mission and work, Economics Arkansas Bessie
B. Moore Endowment has been created
to leave a legacy of sustainable funding for
our mission and work. Our endowment is managed
by the Arkansas Community Foundation, (ARCF)
an organization directing over $85 million
in charitable funds. Our initial goal for the
recently created endowment is $6 million dollars,
which will insure our work is continued into
perpetuity. The Arkansas Community Foundation
will accept gifts of cash, stock, insurance,
real estate, or other complex assets into the Economics Arkansas Bessie
B. Moore Endowment. Please
contact us for further details.
Memorials/Honorariums
Economics Arkansas also encourages gifts in honor and
memory of individuals. This is a wonderful
way to remember a community leader, or educator
who contributed to serving as a champion of
economic education in Arkansas. The family
is notified with a personal acknowledgment
of the gift, and the memorial/ honorarium is
listed in Economics Arkansas's quarterly newsletter "The
Fourth R."
