The Economics of Sports: Jonesboro

According to a recent Sports Illustrated article, 60 percent of former NBA players are financially broke within five years of retirement. In addition, 78% of former NFL players have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress within 2 years of retiring.
This workshop will focus on the relationship between economics and the world of sports, plus it will provide participants with engaging lessons for teaching economics concepts through the lens of sports.
Target Audience: 6-12 Teachers

- Curriculum developed by the Georgia Council on Economic Education and the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
- Lunch and snacks
- $50 stipend
