Economics Arkansas offers multiple programs to Arkansas educators and students.
The Stock Market Game™
This investment simulation program introduces 4th – 12th grade students to the exciting world of investing in the stock market and the role it plays in the U.S. and world economies. In addition, a recent independent research study concluded that students who participated in this program scored significantly higher on mathematics and financial literacy tests than students who did not participate! (Click here for Stock Market Game Research Study results.) The object of the program is to grow a hypothetical $100,000 portfolio during a 10-week period each semester. Current events, social studies, economics, math and reading are integrated into this experience as teams use critical thinking skills to make wise investment decisions. A luncheon is held each semester for the winning teams, plus they receive t-shirts, certificates, trophies and cash prizes. Bessie B. Moore Arkansas Awards Program
The legacy of Bessie B. Moore, founder of Economics Arkansas, is alive and well as evidenced through this program honoring outstanding elementary and secondary teachers throughout the state. These distinguished teachers have successfully integrated economic principles into their classrooms and related them to students' real life experiences. These teaching practices are described in written projects that are judged each year. Award-winning teachers gain recognition, earn cash awards, and are honored at a gala awards luncheon held in Little Rock each December. (Check back soon to view the 2009 Awards Luncheon Program.)

Polly M. Jackson Master Economics Teachers (MET) Program
Named in honor of long-time Associate Director Polly M. Jackson, this group of proven economic educators serve as “resource extenders” to the staff of Economics Arkansas. METs are educators certified by Economics Arkansas to assist with and/or conduct in-service meetings and workshops. They demonstrate excellence in economic education in the classroom and are acknowledged as individuals who are informed, energetic, and enthusiastic about economic education.
Economic Education Teacher Grants Program
The purpose of this program is to provide funding to Arkansas PreK-12 teachers for integration of economic education into existing curricula. Grants up to $750 will be awarded each fall for economic education projects implemented in the same academic year. Grant recipients attend a one-day Economics Exchange in the spring to share their projects and ideas. In addition, they submit their projects to be considered for a Bessie B. Moore Award!

Economics Concept Calendar
Arkansas students in Kindergarten through 8th grade take out their crayons and colored pencils to submit drawings of economic concepts they’ve learned in the classroom. The artwork submitted is carefully reviewed for accuracy in depicting the economic concept selected plus artistic creativity. Drawings chosen are reproduced in a Calendar format and distributed to donors and educators statewide. Winners and their teacher advisors win $25 gift cards, plus a copy of the calendar.
The Economics Arkansas/EconomicsAmerica Partnership
This program offers school districts the opportunity to enter into a formal partnership with Economics Arkansas, and through this formal affiliation, school districts receive planning and program consultation services, economic education training for teachers and administrators, and access to quality economic education curriculum materials for all grade levels. In addition, this partnership allows schools to take advantage of the discounts on economic education curriculum and teaching materials offered by Council for Economic Education.
The EconomicsInternational Program
EconomicsInternational is a CEE based program for supporting economic education delivery in emerging market economies to help build infrastructures in new democratic nations. Educators from the United States work with counterparts in developing and transition economies in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and the post-Soviet region. Arkansas educators teach beyond the book and bring the global economy into the classroom through participation in this program! Economics Arkansas and affiliated Centers are invited by the CEE to host study tours abroad for Arkansas teachers. Additional information about this unique program can be found at www.economicsintl.org.
