Apply to by Dec. 31 to qualify for 50% matching grant

More Arkansas teachers, especially economics teachers, should feel encouraged to take advantage of Timing is crucial as a 50% matching grant is available for eligible projects through December 31.

This is how it works: Post your classroom project requests on, an online charity. Requests range from pens and pencils to tablets and laptops, from money games and magnetic money to Stock Market Game student team fees! Visitors to the website browse projects and give any amount to the projects that inspire them. Some donate a few dollars, others, hundreds of dollars. Once a project reaches its funding goal, delivers the materials to the school.

If that’s not enticing enough, here is an attractive twist: A grant from the Walton Family Foundation will provide a 50% match to those projects of $800 or less designed to promote economic education in Arkansas. That grant expires at the end of the year, so now is the time to take advantage of it!

Several Arkansas teachers have had their projects fully funded through, including their student team fees to participate in the Stock Market Game program. We hear it’s not difficult to apply and you can apply repeatedly. For more information, visit
