North Little Rock Student Investment Team Wins National Award

Michael Huels, a teacher from North Little Rock High School in Pulaski County, who has been involved in many, many Economics Arkansas programs, can lay claim to national fame! His student team just won 5th place at the “Capitol Hill Challenge,” a national version of the Stock Market Game program. The team, as part of the Top 10 ranking teams, will be recognized at an awards reception in Washington, D.C., on June 19.

The students produced a portfolio value of $173,247.85 and a return of over 64 percent. During the 14-week period, they were paired with Senator John Boozman (R) and staff. Way to go! Congratulations on a job well done.

If you want to know how he and his students managed such success, consider participating in the Stock Market Game program with your Arkansas students. This investment simulation program for grades 4-12 is offered each fall and spring semester right here through Economics Arkansas. Teacher training is about to start.
