Cooking Matters Summer 2021 Workshop
THIS IS A 2 PART PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OFFERING.
You need to attend both sessions to receive resources!
June 2, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
June 9, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join us for 4 hours of professional development fun! Beginning June 1st, professional development workshops for teachers will be held over two two-hour sessions on the same day of the week. Once you register, we'll send a reminder e-mail at the beginning of each week to send you the log-in information.
Over the two-part, four-hour hands-on workshops, participants will learn shopping and cooking techniques to prepare tasty, nutritious, low-cost meals; they will discuss ways to modify eating behaviors and attitudes that may otherwise lead to unhealthy eating habits; they will identify means of increasing physical activity into their daily activities, and they will learn basic principles of sound money management, such as budgeting, saving, reducing/avoiding debts. Additionally, participants will learn a key economic principle that is relevant in many settings, i.e., decision-making and tools to guide them in that process. Effective decision making requires comparing the additional costs of alternatives with the additional benefits. Many choices involve doing a little more or a little less of something; few choices are "all or nothing" decisions.
Participants will receive:
